How to choose hockey equipment: basic rules
Selecting hockey equipment is an important step for players, as the right equipment ensures safety, comfort and performance on the ice. Here are the basic rules and guidelines for selecting hockey equipment:
1. Helmet:
– The helmet should be the correct size and fit securely on the player’s head.
– The helmet should have a face guard or face shield to prevent facial and dental injuries.
– Make sure the helmet does not fit too tightly on the head and allows the player to wear a balaclava or thermal hat in cold weather.
2. Kneepads:
– The kneepads should securely protect the knees and cover the lower thigh.
– They should fit well on the leg so that they do not slip off during play.
3. Elbow pads:
– The elbow pads should securely protect the elbows and the top of the forearm.
– Make sure they lock on well and do not slip off.
4. Back and spine protection (optional):
– If you want extra protection for your back and spine, choose the appropriate piece of equipment.
5. Chest protection (optional):
– If you want additional chest protection, select the appropriate piece of equipment.
6. Thermal Underwear:
– Thermal underwear helps keep you warm and control moisture. Choose thermal underwear made of breathable materials.
7. Hockey socks:
– Hockey socks should be long enough to cover the kneecaps and provide protection.
8. Breeches:
– Breeches must provide adequate protection for the waist and lower back.
9. Hockey Skates:
– Skates should fit properly and provide comfort and good traction on the ice.
10. Stick:
– The hockey stick should match the style and preference of the player. Choose a stick with the right stiffness and blade shape.
11. Gloves:
– Gloves should protect your hands securely and provide comfort when gripping the putter.
12. Shield and neck protector (optional):
– If you want extra protection for your neck and upper chest, choose the appropriate piece of equipment.
13. Shoulder guard (optional):
– If you want additional upper body protection, select the appropriate piece of equipment.
Please note that hockey equipment must be securely fastened to the player’s body and must not interfere with movement. It is also important to monitor the condition of the equipment and replace worn or damaged elements.
